Polly Walker Ecology Fund Lecture Categories: School of Public Health Location: Bloomberg School of Public Health. ,Summary: Dr. Charles Benbrook, a leading expert on agricultural policy, science and regulatory issues, food safety and quality, and chief scientist for the Organic Center, will be the featured speaker at the Polly Walker Ecology Fund Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday, December 7. Benbrook, whose experience includes nearly 30 years working on agriculture and regulatory policy issues, is the author of several books and peer-reviewed articles on environmental and public health issues connected with industrial agriculture. From 1986 until 1991, Dr. Benbrook served as the Executive Director for the Board on Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences. Several influential NAS reports were done in this period on the need for and aspects of sustainable agriculture. He is currently the Chief Scientist for The Organic Center, a non-profit research organization based in Boulder Colorado.
